Thanks all, these friends a pretty solid and with the exception of their daughter, a bit on the fringe themselves. So I doubt their being so duplicitous. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of obvious 'lines' that would be directed to us by your average self rightous, scripted and programed Dub.

Well some friends, who we have been close with for a long time. Like ourselves they have been hardcore long time servants of Jehovah etc. asked our family to lunch today. They had their daughter in town who we are very good friends with. (she's our age ) I have to admit since we haven't been to a meeting in about 4 months, and its been very spotty, like 1 every two weeks before that, I was leary that it might in fact be an intervention.
I'm very happy to report that we had a nice lunch and they were as kind as they always had been. I should point out that the parents have always been the type to question things although not very publicly. They never said anything like "is everything OK?" "we haven't seen you in SOOO long". They were just kind and we visited and had a nice lunch. Encourages me that some good friendships may in fact survive the choice that my wife and I are making.
Minimmus, there is hope for you man. Keep working that woman of yours.

it looks like a kingdom hall book room around here, and i don't know how to get rid of the stuff, other than a midnight "drop and run" at the local kh.
not the most desirable option, as the kh is guarded by some old circuit servants in an apartment.. odrade

Took me about a month or less. Which is about how long it took me to read and digest COC. But there were problems before that that raised a lot of questions. I just didn't have the unbiased perspective of any 'wicked apostates' to help me figure it out.

He was an elder etc etc etc, long story short he walked away with $300K US of company funds. He up and moved his family, changed his number etc. Last I heard was from his son who was studying at the Sorbone. ( <spelling? ) Funny but this certain someone remembered a conversation he had with him where he was worrying about how he was going to send this son to school. Looks like he found a way. His son never knew what his dad did and sent "someone" an email. "Someone" then asked for his dad's phone number. He of course gave it right out. So "Someone" called him and just asked if he is worried everytime the phone rings. "Someone" then said said, "you should be". At this point he hung up on "someone". He then had his number changed again.
You think he just figured that the scripture, "he who doesn't provide an ivy leauge education for his own family is worse than a man without faith" worked for him?
Oye vey, he was warm alright.

Mine is getting a room and working out in the morning while everyone else runs out the door to the assembly. Get there at 11, find people at lunch and say "where were you sitting?" Then leave after the first ( yawn ) talk. Plus, don't forget to take turns, wife goes one day, I go the next. Kids play at the pool.

Not being a JW anymore but still fading because of a long history of involvement and friends, I will be attending parts of the Ogden Utah District Convention. Will YOU be there? I have been trying to talk my wife into an apostifest and she is warming up to the idea. Anyway, if not Utah, where will you be going? How successful has your fade been? Besides the Watchtower review and that long ass prayer by some geiser from back East, what is your favorite part? The hotel rate?
